Each vehicle requires specific parts. You wouldn’t give your car an oil filter that’s not compatible. Nor would you select a windshield wiper that doesn’t fit properly. So, why would someone put any old tires on their vehicle?

That was Hyundai’s thought behind increasing traffic in dealership service centers with their Hyundai Tire Center Program. According to the company, “Each Hyundai vehicle has performance and safety standards and undergoes extensive evaluations to determine which tires are best suited for each vehicle.

“The goal of Hyundai and Dealer Tire is to provide tires that meet or exceed those standards.”

What is the Hyundai Tire Center Program?

If you haven’t heard of the Hyundai Authorized Tire Center Program, then you probably aren’t a Hyundai owner. The auto manufacturer began an initiative three and a half years ago to bring customers back to dealerships for new tire purchases.

While most of us don’t consider going to a dealership for new tires over national tire-dedicated retailers, Hyundai sees this as an opportunity. While most dealerships lose customers with after-market parts and service, Hyundai dealers intend to maintain and even bring new customers to their service centers.

So, what incentive is there to go to a Hyundai dealership for new tires? Those participating in the Hyundai Tire Center Program will receive:

  • Tires designed specifically for Hyundai vehicles
  • Installation of available tires while the customer waits
  • Complimentary 24-month road hazard coverage
  • Factory-trained technicians

Has the Hyundai Tire Center Program Been Successful?

Hyundai announced that, since the program began in April 2011, one million replacement tires have been sold to Hyundai vehicle owners from dealer service centers.

Despite the tire industry as a whole only seeing a 5% increase year-to-date in sales, Hyundai dealerships have experienced more than a 20% increase in tire sales.

“This is an important milestone for the partnership. This rapid and sustained success provides a good indication that there will be many more significant achievements in the future,” said Mike Knipe, senior group manager, customer satisfaction and service business development, Hyundai Motor America.

For being such an important component in vehicle stability and safety, tires are often overlooked. Hyundai has proven that its customers care about their safety, going to their brand’s experts to obtain the right tires. And, it’s increased dealership business too!
