Hayden Paddon joins Hyundai World Rally Championship

If you follow the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), chances are you’ve seen what Hyundai Motorsport has been doing recently with its talented crew and i20 racer.

This success has been due largely to the contributions of the talented Hayden Paddon, who has been part of the Hyundai Motorsport team since 2014. In the past couple years, the New Zealander has been busy on and off the track, participating in 12 WRC events last season alone.

Hyundai has recognized what an asset Paddon is and has agreed upon a new three-year contract with him, extending his involvement until 2018.

The new three-year contract with Hyundai will have Paddon running a full-time role from Rallye Monte-Carlo this upcoming January alongside John Kennard. Paddon has sure come a long way since his debut with Hyundai at Rally d’Italia 2014, running a part-time programme in the two years since then.

“I am very excited to sign with Hyundai Motorsport for a further three years,” stated the 28-year-old Paddon. “The two seasons with Hyundai Motorsport have been an amazing journey and we have grown a lot. The team has helped me to develop and based on the rate that we have progressed together I have no doubt we will be winning soon. We are all working and striving towards becoming World Champions and I firmly believe Hyundai Motorsport will offer me the best opportunity to achieve that goal.”

Paddon’s personal goal for 2016 will be to help Hyundai earn the team’s first rally victory.
