The 2014 Hyundai Accent led the charge for Hyundai’s April Sales.

It’s the first week of May, and sales figures are pouring in. Hyundai’s April sales stand out in particular, however, because they were the very best that the automaker has ever seen in this specific month. In total, Hyundai moved 66,107 units, up 4.4 percent over April in 2013.

“With consumer confidence continuing on an upward swing and the economy improving across the nation, customers appear to have put cars back on their shopping lists,” said Bob Pradzinski, vice president of national sales, Hyundai Motor America. “With our award-winning lineup of vehicles, including our recently introduced all-new 2015 Genesis sedan that nabbed top honors—Car of Texas—sat the Texas Auto Writers Association’s Annual Texas Auto Roundup earlier this week, we look forward to the spring selling season.”

The Genesis was subsequently named the 2014 Top Family Choice by the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association.

Three Hyundai vehicles in particular experienced 30 percent-plus sales gains in April. Sales of the Accent rocketed 36 percent while the Santa Fe and Sonata were both up 30 percent. The Sonata Hybrid had its best month on record, with 2,055 units moved (an 8.6 percent increase). The Equus also saw a boost in April, up 9.2 percent.
