Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels raised over $10 million for pediatric cancer research.

September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, during which numerous organizations work together to bring attention to the battle against pediatric cancer.  Although the month has passed, the fight continues with Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels campaign looking to lead the charge.

Since its inception in 1998, Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels campaign has raised and donated more than $71 million toward research to find a cure for cancer affecting children.  While no form of cancer is any less dangerous than another (and it is certainly worth noting that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month), pediatric cancer is particularly insidious in that it robs so many young lives of the opportunities every child should be able to enjoy.

Only 3 percent of federal research funding is allocated to pediatric cancer, and Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels campaign aims to increase the funds given to researchers looking to stop this disease in its tracks.

This past September, Hyundai celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of Hope On Wheels by raising $10,250,000 toward funding pediatric cancer research through charitable donations and awareness-raising events across the country.  Though National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month has passed, the fight to cure pediatric cancer is a year-round effort, and the funds raised by Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels will be of great use in the effort to make childhood cancer extinct.
