2014 Nissan Rogue a Top Safety Pick Plus

Last week, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the 2014 Nissan Rogue a Top Safety Pick Plus. To earn this honor, the all-new Rogue achieved the top rating of “Good” in all five of the Top Safety Pick categories and went on to snag the Top Safety Pick Plus designation due to its “Basic” rating for front crash prevention with the optional Forward Collision Warning.

The Top Safety Pick Plus distinction came into play last year. To earn the designation, a vehicle must meet all of the Top Safety Pick criteria (in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests) as well as receive either a “Good” or “Acceptable” in the small overlap frontal test and a “Basic,” “Advanced,” or “Superior” rating for front crash prevention.

“Nissan has a long-standing commitment to safety and innovation, and this IIHS rating is a very important milestone for the all-new 2014 Rogue,” said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, U.S.A, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “Rogue is the second best-selling vehicle in Nissan’s lineup, and with its standard and available safety features, we’re bringing a new level of affordable technologies and innovations to a growing segment looking for fresh ideas.”

Standard safety features for the 2014 Rogue include the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System, 3-point front and rear seatbelts, the LATCH system, child safety rear door locks, Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and occupant zone, the Nissan Immobilizer system, an anti-theft alarm system, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) with Easy Fill Tire Alert. Also standard are Active Trace Control, Active Engine Braking, and Active Ride Control.

Optional on the Rogue are the Around View® Monitor with Moving Object Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning.
