No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT finishes second at Le Mans

Ford came up shy of its goal to win the Le Mans GTE Pro class for the second consecutive time this weekend at the 2017 Le Mans 24 Hours, but it eked out a moral victory when the No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT grabbed second place from Chevrolet as the checkered flag waved.

The No. 67 car, driven by the team of Andy Priaulx, Harry Ticknell, and Pipo Derani, overtook the struggling Corvette in the home stretch to capture a spot on the podium. The No. 68 Ford GT that won the LM GTE Pro class last year in Ford’s much-anticipated return to the world’s most famous endurance race finished this year’s campaign in sixth. The No. 69 car tagged just behind in the seven spot, and the No. 66 finished out the top 10 for the class.

“Wow, what a race,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “It was a tough one, but everyone stuck with it. This proves that you have to stick with it right until the very end. To take second place on our second time here is amazing. First is always best, but we’ll take this because it’s a great result for this team. It was huge for us in the WEC championship, so it’s not just a great finish, but it’s also great for the championship we want to win this year.”

“Congratulations to the No. 67 crew for a fantastic second-place finish,” said Dirk Müller, driver for the No. 68 Ford GT. “We know how it feels to make it on to the podium. It’s a good feeling.”
