When Justin Wilson tragically passed away earlier this week, the racing world was grief-stricken. At the age of 37, Wilson was gone much too soon, especially with the promising future he had on the track. While the news of Justin Wilson’s death–which was caused after Wilson received a head injury during an accident at Pocono Raceway–is heartbreaking, there is something good that has come from this tragedy—or rather, six something goods.

As a testament to the kind of person Wilson was, the driver’s organs were donated to help save others. So far, he has already helped six other people fight illnesses and come back from the brink of death.

The news of this kind deed was shared yesterday on Twitter by Justin’s brother, Stefan.

Wilson is survived by his wife Julia, 7-year-old daughter Jane, and 5-year-old daughter Jessica. Earlier this week, Honda released a statement regarding Wilson’s tragic death, stating:

To say that we are heartbroken over the loss of Justin Wilson would create the false impression that our pain is localized. At a time earlier in the season, when we were in a continuing struggle to remain competitive in the Verizon IndyCar Series, Justin was the guy who WANTED to be with Honda, and he demonstrated that time and again. That allows you to take the measure of the man, and we will be forever grateful for his loyalty, and the gracious and gentlemanly way he represented our company, on and off the race track.

He was our friend, and our comrade. All of our thoughts and prayers are for his wife, Julia, daughters Jane and Jessica; his parents Keith and Lynne; his brother Stefan; and his many friends around the world.

A trust fund for Wilson’s two daughters has been established. If you are interested in sending donations, please address them to Wilson Children’s Fund, c/o INDYCAR, 4551 W. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46222.
