Infiniti will use the 2015 North American International Auto Show as its platform to reveal the next step in the evolution of the Q60 née G37 Coupe. The first teaser for the Q60 Concept dropped on Thursday, offering a barely-there glimpse at “muscular lines” and “well-defined contours,” as well as a few suggestions of what could be unique aspects of the future Q60 coupe.

Back in November, Infiniti executive design director Alfonso Albaisa told Motor Trend that the eventual Q60 Concept would be quite different from other Infiniti design studies in that it would be “very, very, very, very close to the next Q60.” Yes, he used very four times, so we can presume that it’s gonna be close.

A couple of bits that stand out here are the unusual shape of the C-pillar and miniscule side mirrors that might actually wind up being cameras. Despite all of Albaisa’s verys, there will likely be changes made in the transitional phases between concept and production model, but these suggested touches would certainly serve to set the Q60 apart from competitors like the Cadillac ATS, BMW 4-Series, and Lexus RC.

Quite a step up from the G37 Coupe of old

Digital Trends notes that the Q60 could use the 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 found in the Q50 and, should rumors about an Eau Rouge version hold any water, a 420-horsepower V8 or the GT-R’s 560-horsepower twin-turbo V6.

Motor Authority adds the possibility of the Q80 Inspiration’s 3.0-liter V6 being a powertrain option while also throwing in the possibility of a Q60 convertible somewhere down the line.

Expect your first full look at the Q60 Concept on or slightly before January 12th when it is unveiled in Detroit.
