A little more than a month ago, Infiniti Vaguebooked us good with an image of a grille and some French. A couple weeks after that, the silhouette of the Q80 Inspiration fastback followed, and Infiniti began promising us something capable of disrupting the status quo. Today, ahead of its October 2 debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, we get our first full look at the Q80 Inspiration. Is the status quo thoroughly rattled? Take a look for yourself.

“After showing Q30 Concept and Q50 Eau Rouge, Infiniti is eager to show the upper range of our portfolio expansion,” said Infiniti Executive Design Director, Alfonso Albaisa. “In Q80 Inspiration, we wanted to capture that unforgettable feeling when you experience something important, something beautiful, something magnetic for the first time.”

The Q80 Inspiration is an audacious four-door concept that features a 122.2 inch wheelbase and sits on 22” five-dual-spoke lightweight alloy wheels. It’s hailed as a 1+1+1+1 seater (that’s seating for four for those who may not know the counting game) that will utilize a performance-oriented hybrid electric powertrain, advanced adaptive suspension, strong-yet-light chassis, and various other technologies.

The Q80 Inspiration also promises a teardrop greenhouse, portal style doors, and a cabin comprised of carbon fiber, aluminum, and leather.

And just so it’s absolutely clear, Infiniti assures us that this is a concept that will result in a future model. While Infiniti has been led in the past by the G Sedan and more recently by the Q50, the Q80 Inspration has all the hallmarks of the halo car that the brand has needed so badly.

We’ll have more on this lovely little piece of work when the Q80 Inspiration makes its world debut at the Paris Motor Show next week.
