Integrate Your Apple Watch with Your Mercedes-Benz Navigation System Because Why Not
The Apple Watch has been out for nearly a month now, and the overwhelming consensus seems to be: in what world would anyone anywhere need this if they already have any other kind of Apple or smart device? Regardless, Apple fanatics are now running rampant with wristwatches bearing the legendary logo and pretending like they are adding so much meaning to their lives. Who knows—maybe they actually are finding some use for the gadgets, though it’s more likely that they are playing out their Kim Possible Kimmunicator fantasies at long last.
Cars 101: A History of Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz has decided to step into Apple Watch territory, just in case this trend catches on as fast as Silly Bandz. Drivers of Mercedes vehicles can download the MB Companion App. The app is meant for the Apple Watch but can also be downloaded for iPhones. Using this app, drivers can get directions to a destination, using their device; the directions will then be sent to the car’s navigation system. Why anyone would do this on a tiny watch when they could just punch it into the much more convenient navigation system already, ya know, built into the Mercedes is beyond us. To be fair, the watch provides walking directions that seamlessly take over once you’ve parked the car, but even then, it seems a little unnecessary.
According to Mercedes, integration will be compatible with the COMAND Online system for the C- and S-Class models as soon as this fall. While away from the car, drivers will be able to check in on things like fuel level and odometer readings via the watch.
