International MINI Meet in Lithuania Draws Hundreds of European Cars

Memorial Day weekend was an important time for us in the United States to reflect on the lives we enjoy due to the sacrifices of others. Over this past weekend, folks in Europe had their own celebration, as the annual International Mini Meeting (IMM) took place.

Every year–for the past 37 years–hundreds of MINI owners have been meeting for a yearly festival honoring the classic British brand. This year’s five-day celebration took place in Lithuania, the first time the Baltic state has hosted the event.

From May 21st through May 25th, thousands of MINI enthusiasts gathered on the serene, lakeside grounds around Zarasia, Lithuania. Enthusiasts from all parts of Europe gathered–with their iconic MINI models–in a yearly celebration which has been taking place since 1978. The weekend celebration is typically a family vacation outing with plenty of things to do for both parents and children. That included live music, sports, presentations, contests, races, and a massive convoy.

This year’s event was hosted by the MiniPeople Club Lithuania, which bid for the 2015 IMM event merely five years after it was formed. The club certainly showed a lot of hard work and creativity pulling together such an event. The venue for the event–as picturesque as you can imagine–was on an island with overnight camping accommodations.
