The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V

The luxurious and high-performance 2016 Cadillac CTS-V will be taking its bow at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month, but Caddy has given us all the dirty details in advance, so we’ll have time to digest before seeing it in the flesh.

Powered by a 6.2-liter V8 that beats out the Mercedes-Benz biturbo V8 and the BMW M-Series 4.4-liter TwinPower V8, the CTS-V delivers 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a paddle-shift eight-speed automatic tranny and can get the model up to 200 miles an hour without breaking a sweat. Its 0 – 60 sprint takes just 3.7 seconds.

Cadillac describes the 2016 CTS-V as “two cars in one: a luxury sedan with sophisticated road manners and a track capable sports car straight from the factory.” And while it struts that notable luxury like it’s freakin’ Don Draper, it’s the performance that we’re really excited about. Some of the top performance technologies included on the 2016 model are a Brembo high-performance brake system, Magnetic Ride Control, Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires for the 19-inch wheels, and a host of safety and parking technologies, among several others. The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V also takes the Performance Data Recorder from the Corvette as an added bonus.

The interior of the CTS-V is where performance and luxury really bond. Inside the cabin, drivers will find Cadillac’s cut-and-sew elements, CUE and navigation, wireless inductive phone charging, a killer Bose sound system, OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and 20-way performance oriented heated and ventilated front seats in semi-aniline leather, featuring sueded microfiber inserts and seatbacks.

“V-Series represents the very best of the Cadillac brand – the pinnacle of our design and technical capabilities,” said Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac. “The new CTS-V is the most compelling example of Cadillac’s product substance and brand trajectory. The new CTS-V soars into the stratosphere of the most exhilarating luxury cars.”

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is definitely a car to watch for not only in Detroit, but in the coming year, as Cadillac launches its attempt to catapult itself to the same level of the German luxury powerhouses, like Audi and BMW.
