Chevrolet has introduced a slew of new concepts to start off the 2016 SEMA Show, with an emphasis on custom versions of the brand’s popular pickup trucks. Among them is a Chevy Silverado 1500 High Desert SEMA Show vehicle.

Based on the High Desert package offered on 2017 Silverado 1500 LT, LTZ, and High Country models, the Silverado features premium leather interior accents and unique appearance enhancements. The pickup also features an all-new, lockable, and water-resistant cargo storage system, and is the first Silverado offered with available Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

The storage system combines with Chevy Avalanche-inspired sail panels to create a unique profile for the truck.

“The new High Desert package blends the capability and utility of Silverado with even greater refinement,” said Sandor Piszar, the director of Chevrolet truck marketing. “It’s ideal for those customers who want the security of a lockable cargo area as well as the flexibility of a pickup truck bed.”

The High Desert package on the LT trim level features 20-inch wheels with all-season tires, while LTZ and High Country trim levels boast 22-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.

The Silverado’s 6.2-liter V8 is available on LTZ and High Country models, yields 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to the new Hydra-Matic 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission. The V8 has the distinction of being the most powerful engine offered in a light duty truck.

The Silverado 1500 High Desert SEMA Show truck distinguishes itself from other High Desert models with performance parts and accessories that include an illuminated black bowtie grille emblem, all-weather floor liners, a performance brake kit, and a performance exhaust kit that adds 7 hp to the 6.2-liter V8.

The show car also sports accessories such as 22-inch wheels with anodized bronze finish, a bold CHEVROLET grille insert, a performance air intake, and a painted engine cover.

The truck’s exterior is painted Slate Blue and accented by bronze-tinted trim, while the cabin features a unique High Desert theme with Cocoa leather seat inserts, brown accent stitching, and embroidered headrests.

“This Silverado High Desert is dressed to impress, inspired by the successful legacy of premium, special-edition models Chevrolet has introduced recently,” said Piszar. “As our customers continue to integrate their trucks in more personal ways, we’ll continue to offer more unique choices that speak to their lifestyles and interests.”
