It Is Now Nissan’s Year Of The Truck
The truck segment of America’s auto market is fiercely competitive, and is traditionally seen to be dominated by three main players: Ford, Chevrolet, and Ram. This year, Nissan is working hard to carve out its own place and gain a larger piece of the sales pie. To give a name to its efforts, the Japanese automaker has proclaimed that this is its Year of the Truck.
A few months ago, the first of the redesigned Titan XD rolled off of the assembly, and had received a lot of praise and commendation for its power and style. Nissan has plans to enhance its current truck offerings and beef up some of its larger SUVS to become a bigger force. For example, the 2017 Nissan Pathfinder was recently revealed in Dallas, and the automaker called it one of the most expensive midcycle designs ever.
This fall, the Nissan Titan half-ton Crew Cab will be refreshed to look more like the larger Titan XD, as announced at the auto shows this spring. According to Automotive News, Nissan also has plans for another truck to be unveiled at the end of this year or beginning of next. This vehicle will less expensive than the Titan, which will attract high-volume fleet purchasers. The smaller Nissan Frontier is also forecast to be redesigned next year (and will be released as a 2018 model).
On the SUV side of things, the Nissan Rogue will gain a more budget-friendly variant built in England, and the Armada was retooled for the 2017 model year. Further in the future, the Juke should receive a redesign in 2018. We shall see if these efforts can topple the big three, or at least make them a bit more unsure in their dominance.
