There seems to be a Guinness World Record for everything (so don’t be surprised when The News Wheel wins one for “Most Editors to Do Cartwheels Drunk and Naked at Work”), as evidenced by the one recently given out to a Fiat 500 (for a second time) for being the world’s hairiest car. The Fiat in question belongs to an Italian hairdresser, Maria Lucia Mugno, who last won the award back in 2010 when she covered her Fiat 500 in a whopping 220 pounds (100 kilograms) of hair.

Since then, she and her assistant added on an extra 45 pounds (20 kilograms) for a grand total of 265 pounds (120 kilograms) to win the award for world’s hairiest car a second time. Reportedly, Mugno imports her hair from India, where it is rumored to be stronger than European hair.

Maria Lucia Mugno says it took her 150 hours to complete her masterpiece.

The hair is sewn to both the exterior and interior of the car. In total, the project took Mugno 150 hours to complete. The most recent addition to the Fiat involved sewing the hair into butterfly wings, in an effort to create a “symbol of freedom and peace in the world.”

Remarkably, given the cost of hair extensions, the Fiat is now valued at £60,000, or nearly $96,000. Even more remarkably, Mugno still uses this car as a daily driver. Let’s just hope it doesn’t catch fire; that would be stinky.

The only thing that makes this story better is hearing it from a robot narrator who cannot, for the life of her, pronounce “Fiat” correctly.
