CHAM-PAG-NEH!

Jann Mardenborough is living the dream. This weekend, the PlayStation gamer-turned-NISMO athlete captured the pole and then went on to claim victory at the GP3 race at Hockenheim. Since first winning the GT Academy competition in 2011, Mardenborough has more than enough accomplishments to his name to justify his place as one of racing’s hottest up-and-comers.

Mardenborough claimed victory after a disappointing result at Silverstone and an eighth place finish in the first GP3 race. That eighth place finish earned him the pole for the second race, and he took full advantage, controlling the race and taking the checkered flag.

The results, it turned out, were delicious:

“It feels so good to win,” Mardenborough told Nissan. “The only time I ever drink Champagne is when I win a race – not a podium finish, only a win – and I haven’t tasted it since February, so it tasted good today! I call it Winner’s Juice!”

Since becoming professional, the 22-year-old has taken a podium finish at Le Mans and recently set the fastest Supercar time to the clouds at the Goodwood Festival of Speed from the wheel of the Nissan GT-R NISMO.
