“Jason Bourne” Stunt Driver Takes 2016 Chevy Camaro SS for a Hair-raising Ride on Dubai Runway
There’s a lot to like about the new sixth-generation 2016 Chevy Camaro. Of the many stats it can boast, though, none have been as dramatically illustrated as its ability to go from zero to 100 mph and back again in just 313 meters—thanks to this new video from Chevrolet Arabia.
Titled #Zero100Zero, this two-minute promotional piece was filmed on the Skydrive Dubai Runway. It’s the craziest car stunt to take place in the populous United Arab Emirates city since Vin Diesel jumped a Lykan HyperSport from one of the Etihad Towers to another in Furious 7 (except this one was real, not CGI).

The video begins with the usual disclaimers (don’t try this at home, yada yada yada…) before introducing us to the 2016 Chevy Camaro SS, running down a list of its selling points. It’s 90 kilograms (or 205 lbs) lighter than the outgoing model, and features a 455-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine, magnetic ride control, and Brembo brakes. Oh, and it can accelerate from 0 to 100 mph and then come to a complete stop in 313 meters (or 1,027 feet), beating out its closest rivals by 100 meters.
Next, the video introduces us to Russian stunt man Martin Ivanov, whose credits include stunt driving for Dave Bautista in the James Bond film Spectre and for Matt Damon in the upcoming Jason Bourne.
Ivanov climbs into an un-modified SS, gets it up to 100 mph, hits the brakes, and manages to avoid an unwanted bath.
I have to compliment Chevrolet Arabia on this brilliant bit of marketing. It’s way better than the stupid “Real People, Not Actors” commercials that Chevy makes us watch here in the states.
