Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Bests Land Rover Discovery Sport in Off-Road Comparison
Finding an SUV that has serious off-road capability is like finding the Holy Grail. While many vehicles tout the ability to take their drivers off the beaten path, they often fall short of consumer expectations—unless the vehicle is the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Edition. Car Advice recently did an off-road comparison between the Cherokee Trailhawk and Land Rover Discovery Sport—and the Jeep came out on top.
WATCH: Comparison Between the Trailhawk and Discovery Sport
The Trailhawk and Discovery Sport took to the marshy grassland of Australia, showing what they can do. While the Land Rover brand is typically considered one of the more off-road-worthy brands in the market, the Discovery Sport didn’t show as well as the Trailhawk. The Trailhawk immediately showed off its superiority, highlighting its low-range gearbox and locking differential.
Jeep set the Cherokee up with a V6 engine, which is significantly more powerful than the Discovery’s turbodiesel. It also offered a significantly better drive in general, regardless of the terrain. One of the testers even mentioned it was quite comfortable as they drove over rougher roads.
Better yet, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk didn’t get stuck in the mud.
So, it looks like if you truly want to go off-roading, then you should stick with the American Jeep.
