The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT will be getting a Hellcat engine

Hold on to your hats, ladies and gents—Jeep has confirmed that the Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat model is coming to the market by the end of the 2017. What does that mean? You can have power and off-road performance all wrapped up in a pretty svelte SUV.

My excitement level is basically on par with Oprah’s audience when she was giving out free cars.

The Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee has been a longtime coming. In 2014, Jeep trademarked the “Trackhawk” name, which hinted at a performance-oriented SUV coming to its lineup. Specifically, a Grand Cherokee SRT with a Hellcat engine, since it is one of the most popular SRT models with the Jeep name.

Then, it was reported that Fiat Chrysler confirmed a Hellcat Grand Cherokee to dealers this past August. Reports are saying that this model will reach 60 mph from a standstill in 3.5 seconds.

When Manley was asked a Grand Cherokee could have a Hellcat engine, he responded, “not only can I put a Hellcat motor in [a Grand Cherokee] for you, I’m going to bring that to market by the end of 2017.”

Yes, you read that right. Dealerships will have a Grand Cherokee SRT Hellcat by the end of 2017.
