This year's cavalcade of Jeep concept vehicles includes models that focus on nostalgia and off-road performance

Meet the Moab Magnificent Seven

At the moment, most automakers are focusing on the New York International Auto Show, where they have unveiled several new models and concept vehicles. Jeep, however, is currently preoccupied with another annual automotive event: the Moab Easter Jeep Safari.

Every year, right around the Easter holiday, Jeep hosts a gathering of Wranglers, Cherokees, and other Jeep models driven by enthusiasts from across the country. Jeep also takes the opportunity to showcase some of its most innovative and eccentric concept vehicles.

For the 52nd Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari, Jeep has put a total of seven concept vehicles on display. Each highlights a different aspect or benefit that the vehicles in Jeep’s product lineup provide.

It looks like you might have left somebody behind, guys

“Pushing the limit is something the Jeep brand is no stranger to and these seven new, exciting and capable concept vehicles are the latest example of that,” said Mike Manley, Head of the Jeep brand. “Every year, we look forward to introducing new concept vehicles and ideas to our enthusiasts. The Moab Easter Jeep Safari presents a unique and perfect opportunity to collect valuable insight from our most loyal customers.”

From nostalgic throwback models to concepts that demonstrate the performance prowess that only a Jeep can provide, here are the seven Moab Easer Jeep Safari concept vehicles.

Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip

Many Jeep enthusiasts have fond memories of trailblazing across the country in the back of a Jeep Wagoneer. That was the inspiration for the creation of the Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip concept.

The vehicle’s wheelbase has been stretched a total of five inches, a callback to the Wagoneer’s original body shape and design. The inside of the Jeep has even more retro features found throughout, like a wicker headliner and Oxblood-colored leather lining.

Jeep Jeepster

Another throwback model featured at the Moab Easter Jeep Safari this year was the Jeep Jeepster. Inspired by the 1966 Jeepster, this concept carries over its namesake’s styling and speedy performance.

Interior features throughout this Jeep concept have been relocated or removed to make room for more cargo and supplies. The Jeepster certainly stands out in a crowd, thanks to its two-tone color combination of Bright White and Firecracker Red.

Jeep 4SPEED

To create the Jeep 4SPEED concept, Jeep removed a lot of weight from the Wrangler. Some of weight-saving techniques employed include the installation of a carbon fiber hood and the removal of the Wrangler’s rear seats.

As a result of these alterations, the Jeep 4SPEED is a performance concept that is light on its feet, or rather wheels. Of course, a 2.0-liter I-4 turbocharged engine certainly helps with that speedy and spirited performance.

[wptab name=”Jeep Sandstorm”]

Jeep Sandstorm

Drawing inspiration from Baja desert racers, the Jeep Sandstorm concept is a vehicle that feels right at home in Moab’s desert surroundings. Designed to rapidly race across sandy straightaways, the Sandstorm can also tackle the “laborious” task of everyday commuting.

To make the Sandstorm a vehicle that could do both, Jeep moved the front axle forward four inches, while simultaneously moving the rear axle back two inches. Mopar offered its own contribution to the concept in the form of its specialized  6.4-liter V-8 engine.

Jeep J-Wagon

A blending of Jeep’s most impressive performance features and its most opulent amenities, the Jeep J-Wagon concept is a vehicle designed to be just at home in the city as it is on the trails. Jeep took one of its most iconic performance models, the Wrangler Sahara, and modified it with Jeep Performance Parts to bring this concept to life.

Hardcore off-road enthusiasts will adore the 17-inch slot-design wheels and 5-inch LED light mounts. Meanwhile, those with a taste for the finer things will find features like the Camel-color Katzkin leather seats to be impressive.

Jeep B-Ute

Similarly to the Jeep J-Wagon, the Jeep B-Ute is a concept vehicle that utilizes many of components from the Jeep Performance Parts lineup. Unlike the J-Wagon, however, the B-Ute goes all in on performance.

The Jeep B-Ute is powered by Jeep’s  2.4-liter Tigershark engine, which comes mated to an advanced nine-speed automatic transmission. A roof rack and rock rails also come installed on the Jeep B-Ute for additional gear storage.

Nacho Jeep

For a smorgasbord of components from Mopar’s lineup of Jeep equipment and performance parts, Jeep assembled the Nacho Jeep. The brand describes this concept as a “rolling catalog” for Mopar’s off-road offerings.

Some of the parts on display include 37-inch tires, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and 2.5-inch diameter aluminum body shocks. The whole concept is accented by a queso-colored yellow exterior.
