The latest version of the Jeep Grand Cherokee, set to be the most powerful SUV in the industry, was revealed during the New York International Auto Show

Jeep’s signature SUV is now the most powerful SUV in the industry

Late last night, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles officially unleashed the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, now the fastest quarter-mile production car in the industry, unto the automotive world. Of course, Fiat Chrysler isn’t quite done with the big reveals just yet.

After all, the Jeep brand has just unveiled the most powerful SUV ever assembled: the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.

Just how powerful is this new model from Jeep? Thanks to its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk can produce 707 horsepower, paired with 645 lb-ft of torque.

In essence, this means that the Jeep Grand Cherokee can now produce the same amount of power as the Dodge Challenger Hellcat! Stats like that easily make it the most powerful SUV on the market.

Eat your heart out, Challenger!

Jeep also revealed that the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be the quickest SUV ever. Traveling from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, the Trackhawk reaches a quarter mile in 11.6 seconds.

If drivers need to stop on a dime, the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is ready to oblige. The new Jeep model can decelerate from 60 to 0 mph over the course of just 114 feet.

It can stop as fast as it starts!

These braking capabilities are due to the Brembo braking system attached to the model. In fact, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is set to have the largest front brakes of any Jeep model ever.

While all of this power is impressive, Jeep hasn’t forgot to equip the Trackhawk with great technology and safety features either. The 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will include more than 70 safety features and some of Jeep’s best technologies, such as the Uconnect 8.4-standard touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

“Long recognized as the full-size SUV capability leader, Jeep Grand Cherokee is now the most powerful and quickest SUV as well, with the introduction of our new 707-horsepower Trackhawk,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is set to be built at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit. The SUV should arrive at dealerships by the end of this year.
