Joey Logano had an altogether solid 2014, winning five NASCAR Sprint Cup races, earning 16 top five finishes, and just barely missing out on the Sprint Cup Championship in the final round of the inaugural playoff-formatted Chase for the Sprint Cup.

Logano rolled into Daytona International Speedway eager to kick off the 2015 season with a big statement, and there was no better way for him to send a message than by winning the Daytona 500.

Logano’s win at “The Great American Race” marks his first Daytona victory, and it also capped a perfect weekend for Ford. Prior to the Daytona 500, Ford’s Tyler Reddick won the NASCAR Camping World Truck NextEra Energy Resources 250 on Friday, and Ryan Reed grabbed his first-ever NASCAR win with a victory at the NASCAR XFINITY Series Alert Today Florida 300. Adding to Chip Ganassi Racing’s victory at last month’s Rolex 24, Ford is perfect thus far in 2015 at Daytona.

“To win this race is just amazing,” said Logano after the race. “I have the best team on pit road for sure. These guys are awesome. My spotter did a great job giving me the information I need to get our front and stay out front before that last caution and be able to have a good restart there at the end.”

Logano managed to hold off Kevin Harvick, last year’s Sprint Cup Champion, to earn the victory. 2014 Daytona 500 winner Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished third, and Denny Hamlin and Jimmie Johnson closed out the top five.

The win marks not just the first at Daytona for Logano, but also for Team Penske. Ford’s last win at the Daytona 500 came in 2012 when Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag for Roush Racing.
