June BMW sales in the US were up 5.7 percent as the Group’s BMW and MINI brands combined for 35,577 deliveries. The 30,201 BMW-badged vehicles that sold during the month added to a total that equals out to the best first six months of a year that the brand has ever experienced in the United States.

BMW brand vehicles were up 11.5 percent year-over-year thanks to the continued success of the 3 and 4 Series, 5 Series, and X5 among others. June BMW sales pushed the brand to 157,382 units sold during the first half of 2014, marking a 12.1 year-to-date increase and putting the brand well on pace for a new annual sales record.

“The June and first-half results prove again that customer demand is solid and stronger than many have thought and we fully expect confidence and demand to stay strong through the end of the year,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America.  “I am particularly pleased with the results for our 2 and 4 Series models; these are driving machines at the core of the BMW brand.”

The 1 and 2 Series cars were up 7.3 percent after moving 680 units in June; the 3 and 4 Series were up 5.3 percent with 11,543 cars delivered; the 5 Series was up 77.1 percent with 7,940 units sold; and the 7 Series was up 81.1 percent.

The BMW X5 and X6 both had impressive outings with year-over-year increases of 16.6 percent and 94.8 percent, respectively. BMW is hoping that the launch of the brand-new X4 compact crossover will bolster these numbers and attract a new customer base.

MINI was down 18.2 percent in June with sales of 5,376 vehicles; to date, the brand has fallen by 25.4 percent with 24,152 units sold through the first six months.
