Kia’s global sales in August continued the brand’s trend of sales increases around the world

August seems to be the month of sales increase for the Kia brand. In the United States, this South Korean carmaker posted a rise of 3.8% for the month of August—and it looks like it will post yet another increase in sales around the world, too.

In August 2016, Kia’s global sales figures, which include export sales, domestic sales, and sales from overseas plants, saw a total of 224,533 units sold. This is an increase of 4.8% compared to August of last year. Many of the brand’s major markets increased significantly with China seeing a 59.2% rise with 43,091 units sold and Western Europe seeing an increase of 16.1% with 26,820 units sold.

Because of these sales, Kia has managed a total global sales number of 1,938,113 units for the first eight months of the year. This is a 3% increase compared to the same time frame of 2015. The leading model in the overseas market during August was the Kia Sportage compact crossover, which sold a total of 37,400 units. The Kia Rio was the second best-selling model for the brand, followed by the Cerato, which is also known as the Forte or the K3.

Sales for the Korean carmaker will only continue to get better, as it is currently on the cusp of introducing the all-new Rio at the Paris Motor Show later this month. Kia is also adding an in-house, all-new eight-speed transmission, which is rumored to be the best transmission to come out of the carmaker’s assembly plant yet, to its lineup. Needless to say, Kia has been doing quite well for itself in the past few years, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change any time soon.
