Kia has really kicked things up a notch in recent years. Now, it looks like the brand might be going in a completely different direction with its North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) debut.

The Korean carmaker recently released two teaser images of a new SUV, which Kia is calling the Telluride. Created in the automaker’s California design studio, the concept is supposed to offer “an abundance of advanced technology—including state-of-the-art health-and-wellness technology,” according to Kia. What this means, I’m not sure. Maybe it will remind you to go to the doctor?

The Kia Telluride concept car hints at a future Kia SUV

Jokes aside, this is one good-looking SUV. It looks oddly like the popular Kia Soul with a longer body and without the sloping roof, and the addition of suicide doors—which won’t see the light of day on the production model—adds a touch of the unexpected. It’s really no wonder the brand says that the Telluride “takes Kia’s design language in a bold new direction.”

A modern interior to make even the pickiest consumer happy

The second teaser image hints at an extremely modern update to Kia’s interior design philosophy. It features two large displays, one specifically for the infotainment system and the other displaying trip information in a very unique way. You won’t see the typical gauges in this interior; instead, you see the GPS displayed right where you would normally have them. There is even a touch-operated climate control system.

This advanced concept car is set to debut at NAIAS on Monday, January 11th. I’ll be back with more information on this ride then!
