The 2015 Kia K900

Ever since its introduction, the 2015 Kia K900 has been between a rock and a hard place—with a price tag around $55,000, it’s too pricey for most of the Korean automaker’s value-minded customers, yet (perversely) too “cheap” to attract the interest of most luxury sedan shoppers, who are typically more badge-conscious than they are thrifty.

Kia’s tried to rectify that problem by enlisting the aid of official “luxury ambassador” LeBron James, but sales of the K900 have remained tepid. In January, the K900 had its best sales month yet, but still moved only 119 units.

Perhaps the car buying public’s perception of the K900 will change, though, now that it’s been named one of the top ten finalists for the 2015 World Luxury Car of the Year award.

Here’s the full list of 2015 World Luxury Car of the Year top ten finalists:

– BMW i8
– BMW X6
– Cadillac ATS Coupe
– Cadillac Escalade/ESV
– Kia K900
– Lexus NX
– Lexus RC
– Lincoln MKC
– Mercedes-Benz S Coupe
– Range Rover Autobiography Black LWB

It may not win the ultimate prize, but Kia’s inclusion on a list that features heavy hitters like BMW, Mercedes, and Cadillac should signal to the luxury car market that the K900 really does belong.
