Kia Names Troye Sivan as “Kia’s One to Watch” on 2016 Billboard Music Awards
Music has the ability to unite the world and Kia understands that. Because of the power of music, the Korean carmaker has become the Official Automotive Partner of the Billboard Music Awards—and is giving the opportunity for a performance of a lifetime to one new music sensation.
Troye Sivan will be performing as “Kia’s One to Watch” during the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. The awards will broadcast LIVE from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 22nd at 8:00pm ET/5:00pm PT on ABC.
“With its universal appeal, music plays an integral role in our lives and has been a driving force behind some of the most memorable marketing campaigns in Kia’s history,” said Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing communications for Kia Motors America. “The Billboard Music Awards is an amazing showcase of talent and we are proud to present ‘Kia’s One to Watch’ for the second consecutive year and help young artist gain the recognition and exposure they deserve.”
And it’s easy to see why Troye Sivan deserves recognition. Currently, the musician has 20 million combined online followers and nearly one billion—yes, BILLION—streams to date. The New York Times has even called him a “prototype for tomorrow’s global pop star.” Sivan’s debut full-length album titled Blue Neighbourhood topped the iTunes charts in more than 50 countries and ranked in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart—all within five months.
Not too shabby for a musician that started making music in his bedroom as a teenager.
Billboard.com and Kia are promoting Troye’s story at Billboard.com/kia through May 23rd. Learn more about this incredible musician before he performs at the Billboard Music Awards May 22nd.
