Your perception of Blake Griffin as a superhero most likely comes from his impressive on-court dunks. Maybe it goes back to the 2011 NBA Slam Dunk Contest when he jumped over a car to dunk and win first place. Do you by chance remember what that car was? It was a Kia Optima. Now, Kia is turning Blake into a superhero again, only this time it’s a little more literal.

Blake Griffin will star alongside comedian Jack McBrayer (Kenneth the Page of 30 Rock fame) as a crime-fighting duo known as “The Griffin Force.”

“At Kia, we are fans of the game of basketball, and we are excited to welcome the return of the NBA with a new campaign, featuring the dynamic duo of our global brand ambassador, Blake Griffin, and his new sidekick, Jack McBrayer, along with the redesigned 2014 Optima,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing & communications at Kia Motors America, in a press release.

“The Optima is one of Kia’s most popular vehicles, and Blake Griffin continues to help us increase awareness and enhance our brand image by fostering connections with basketball fans across the country, especially during the season-opening games of Kia NBA Tip-Off ‘13.”

Here’s the 60-second launch commercial of Blake Griffin’s Kia ad, but you can expect more off-kilter comedic episodes to follow.

And here is Griffin’s 2011 dunk over the Kia Optima, because why not?
