The Kia A1A Optima is inspired by Florida’s A1A highway

When it comes to offering consumer the unexpected, Kia knows what it’s doing. Whether it’s commercials featuring dancing hamsters or quirky vehicles like the Kia Soul, the Korean carmaker is known for surprising the industry. Now, Kia is bringing a load of surprises to the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas—including the new A1A Optima concept car.

This new concept car takes the amazingly popular sedan and adding a huge twist. Like the other models in Kia’s SEMA lineup, the A1A Optima is inspired by a region of the United States—specifically Flordia’s A1A highway. To honor its muse, this Optima is letting it all hang out quite literally. Kia has turned the sedan into a convertible, completely removing its roof to showcase the ride’s interior.

Along with the convertible top, the A1A Optima also has a custom teal paint job, a shaved down windshield, and a lower ride. Kia has even added an unexpected touch with suicide rear doors. As if that wasn’t enough the interior has off-white bucket seats, extended armrests, and a custom center console.

Sadly, we already know this custom-made Kia Optima won’t be making it to dealerships any time soon, but we can’t help and dream it will in the future.

Along with the A1A Optima, Kia has also teased the Pacwest Adventure Sorento and the Forte Koup Mud Bogger. Kia will debut a total of six vehicles at the SEMA show tomorrow.
