KIA MOTORS AMERICA AND B.R.A.K.E.S. TEEN PRO-ACTIVE DRIVING SCHOOL

Kia is renewing it’s contract with B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving School

The leading cause of death among 15-17 year olds is motor vehicle crashes—but Kia is looking to lessen the likelihood of teen drivers getting into car accidents. The South Korean carmaker has decided to renew its partnership with B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe), which is a non-profit organization that teaches hands-on defensive driving workshops across the country for free.

“Kia is committed to continuing to support B.R.A.K.E.S.’ efforts to reduce teen traffic fatalities through hands-on defensive driving instruction,” said Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing communications for Kia Motors America. “The B.R.A.K.E.S. program provides teens and their parents with high-quality individual training to help them make better decisions behind the wheel.”

With this renewed partnership, B.R.A.K.E.S. now has 44 Kia vehicles to support training teens across America. It allows the program to lower its student-to-teacher ratio to three-to-one, which means teenagers get more attention when they are learning the importance of safe driving. The new contract, which is for multiple years, will likely help double the number of teens and parents who receive the life-saving B.R.A.K.E.S. training.

The program’s training covers everything teen drivers need to know, including accident avoidance, the danger of distracted driving, off-road recovery, panic stop, and car control and recovery. Nearly 20,000 teenaged drivers from across the country have graduated from B.R.A.K.E.S.’ intensive half-day training course since 2008. Kia will remain the Official Vehicle of the program and the presenting sponsor.
