Kia Reveals Autonomous Plans for CES 2016
Kia has revealed its plans for the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES)—and it’s fully autonomous.
While this doesn’t come as a huge surprise, since Kia recent received its license to test self-driving cars in Nevada, it is still pretty exciting. There isn’t a lot of information out there about the big reveals, but we do know that its CES press conference will be the “global debut of its dedication autonomous driving program.”
The Korean carmaker is planning on using the 2016 Kia Optima to highlight its future vision, showcasing a variety of new technologies for the self-driving car of the future. Along with this big display, Kia will discuss its place in connected car research, which is a form of technology that allows cars to communicate with each other while out on the road.
This press conference is possibly the beginning of Kia’s goal to introduce partially autonomous driving technology to its lineup by 2020. The carmaker is also planning to have a fully autonomous vehicle on its dealership lots by 2030.
Kia’s CES press conference will occur on January 5th at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
