Kia is supporting the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Relief actions and response to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma with substantial pledges.

Two Kia entities, Kia Motors (KMA) and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) are both promising significant donations to help with relief efforts orchestrated by the American Red Cross; KMA has promised a donation of $200,000 while KMMG has added a hefty pledge of $100,000.

The substantial donation from Kia will be earmarked for establishing shelter and providing food as well as the procurement of necessary items to people who have been adversely affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.

In further support of those in need after these natural disasters, KMMG and KMA are also creating chances for their employees to extend help, funding, and additional support to the rebuilding and relief efforts.

“Kia is dedicated to supporting both individuals and communities in the aftermath of these historic storms, and these funds will assist the American Red Cross’ ongoing relief efforts,” said Justin Sohn, president and CEO, Kia Motors America. “Our thoughts go out to those affected, and we applaud the continued efforts of relief workers around the country in this time of need.”

The American Red Cross’s humanitarian efforts to help those who have been harmed by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma has included providing “more than three million meals and snacks to people in need,” and “more than 934,000 overnight stays in emergency shelters (shelters were opened in eight states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands); more than 6,400 Red Cross disaster workers and almost 300 emergency response vehicles are on the ground right now, helping thousands of people affected by these storms.”
