Canadian Kia Racing driver Mark Wilkins has enjoyed substantial success on foreign soil.

Along with teammate Ben Clucas, the pair has put Kia Racing on the podium in rounds five and six of the Pirelli World Challenge. But for rounds seven and eight, the challenge departs Birmingham, Alabama, for Bowmanville in Ontario, Canada – where Wilkins is a hometown hero.

At Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, Wilkins won his first-ever Pirelli World Challenge race in 2012, the first year that Kia competed in the PWC.

Rounds seven and eight of the popular auto-racing series will begin at 10:20 a.m. Eastern time on Saturday and 9:40 a.m. Eastern time on Sunday.

Though Wilkins has won multiple times at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, this weekend will be Clucas’ first race at the track – and his first start anywhere in Canada.

But Clucas has plenty of experience on tracks in the United States and beyond, and Wilkins’ northern successes may have even whetted Clucas’ appetite to compete at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

“I’ve been hearing from Mark and others about how racing in Canada is a fantastic experience with the amount of support and turnout you get from fans,” Clucas said. “I’m looking forward to getting there and putting on a good show.”
