Kia Telluride Takes the Bronze at the 2017 International Design Excellence Awards

Originally unveiled at the 2016 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the distinctive Kia Telluride model has just received the bronze medal at the 2017 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the concept car “Transportation” category.
No stranger to IDEA awards, Kia had produced some other award-winning models like the 2012 Rio and its GT4 Stinger concept. Peter Schreyer, President and Chief Design Officer of Kia Motors, displays pride in this recent accomplishment: “The Telluride is a bold statement for Kia, providing a glimpse into how our designers would elevate levels of luxury into Kia’s future SUV lineup. It highlights how our designers are creating compelling concept vehicles as a foundation to lead into production-ready cars. I am very proud of our design team and the award from IDSA. It is a great honor for all of us.”
The IDEA award has a comprehensive judging criteria. Competing cars are ranked according to five main categories: Appropriate Aesthetics, User Experience, Design Innovation, Benefit to the Client, Benefit to Society. The Kia Telluride shines in each of these areas.
The Kia Telluride’s cutting-edge design and convenient technology
The model has a seven-passenger capacity and lush interior quintessential for any luxury SUV, with advanced technologies worthy of the IDEA award. Front and middle passenger seats can capture passengers’ health information thanks to Smart Sensor technology. Based on the readings, the Telluride automatically adjusts its Light Emitted Rejuvenation (LER) system to help passengers relax and boost their energy. For example, jet-lagged passengers will appreciate the therapeutic light patterns on the LED equipped ceiling. The concept car also boasts second-row reclining seats with fold-away footrests to maximize passenger comfort.
