Kia has updated the Rio and Picanto, its popular UK models

The Kia Picanto and Kia Rio have taken the United Kingdom by storm, so much so that these compact cars have been nicknamed Kia’s “little titans.” Now, Kia is making its five-door car lineup even better with a number of upgrades to its popular models.

For the five-door Rio, these upgrades include a brand-new trim level setup. Its lineup now consists of four trim levels: 1 Air, SE, 3, and 4. The SE combines the previous SR7 and 2 grades, while the former base 1 trim level has been discontinued. Even though the 1 trim is no longer offered, replaced by the 1 Air, the Rio still has a starting MSRP of £10,945.

Like the Rio, the five-door Picanto will also have a change in its lineup. It will now have three trim levels: 1 Air, SE, and Sport. The SE will replace the SR7 and 2 trims, much like it does on the Rio, while the Sport will take the place of the 3 and 4 trims. Despite the fact that the 1 model has been discontinued, the Picanto’s starting price is still £8,545.

As we’re sure you can guess, these new trim levels come with a variety of updated tech and features. For instance, the new Picanto 1 Air will now have air conditioning as a free upgrade, despite the fact that it will retain its old price. It will also have standard Bluetooth, a leather-trimmed steering wheel, and front-seat seat belt height adjustment. The Picanto SE will have automatic air conditioning, plus Kia’s Intelligent Stop & Go engine tech, while the Sport will have a more athletic silhouette with new front and rear bumper designs. It will also have sporty 15-inch alloy wheels and an exclusive red, black, or white exterior color.

The Rio doesn’t have as many equipment changes as the Picanto, but it will offer standard air conditioning on the 1 Air trim, which previously wasn’t offered on the now discontinued 1 trim.

With these significant changes, there’s no doubt that Kia’s little titans will continue to come out on top in the UK’s competitive small-car segment.
