Kia’s July sales were incredibly impressive. As usual, the Soul played a huge part.

Okay, maybe not every single record, but still, Kia’s July sales were pretty hot, and that’s saying something, seeing as the Korean automaker just came off its best first half sales performance in the United States in the history of ever.

In total, Kia moved 52,309 units, which is a 6.7 percent increase of July of 2013. On top of that, year-to-date sales shot up 7.2 percent. Sales are continued to increase as the brand prepares to release both the Sedona and the Soul EV.

Perhaps most notably, sales of the Kia Soul have now passed 500,000 since the funky, fresh hamster-mobile arrived on the scene back in 2009.

“Kia’s 20th anniversary in the U.S. has included a number of historic milestones and achievements resulting from one of the freshest and most wide-ranging lineups in the industry as well as our unyielding commitment to delivering world-class quality,” said Michael Sprague, executive vice president of sales and marketing, Kia Motors America. “As Kia’s units-in-operation count continues to grow, so does the level of recognition from highly regarded industry experts and consumers who have experienced the extraordinary design, technology, safety and value we offer, from subcompact to luxury.”

Sales of the Kia Rio and Sportage were also up over last July. The brand also sold 139 models of the K900, which is new for this year.
