The LA Auto Show began today with its press and trade days, and one of today’s features is the Connected Car Expo (CCE). It doesn’t take much imagination to figure out all the goodies that will be on display, and Audi certainly isn’t there to disappoint. So just what can attendees expect from Audi at the Connected Car Expo? Technology, and lots of it.

First off, we have the Audi Virtual Cockpit, which is the first of its kind in the automotive industry. The virtual cockpit is a digital dashboard which replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a central, digital unit. It includes a 12.3-inch TFT display with 3D graphics, and a quad-core Tegra 30 processor from NVIDIA that is able to render up to 60 frames per minute, making the rev counter and navigation displays more precise than ever before. This virtual dashboard will appear in the all-new 2016 Audi TT, which is scheduled to make its North American debut at the LA Auto Show later this week.

Another cool tech feature being displayed by Audi at the Connected Car Expo is MIB-2. Nope, not the sequel to the alien movie starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. Audi’s MIB-2 means Modular Infotainment Platform, and this version includes more powerful processors designed to make Audi’s infotainment systems more reliable and user-friendly. This technology will first appear in the 2016 Audi A6 and A7 models, which are also due to make their debuts this week at the LA Auto Show.
