Latest Ford Accelerated Action Day Follows World Environment Day
Ford employees volunteer at a wildlife refuge
Ford Volunteer Corps members around the country participated in another Ford Motor Company Accelerated Action Day on Friday as a means to celebrate World Environment Day and bolster the efforts of nearly 40 community service projects.
Ford pledged more than $47,000 in grants to cover necessary materials for the projects, and more than 500 company employees took part in projects including the construction of garden beds and the removal of damaged trees.
Of the donations, as much as $5,000 was allocated to the southeast Michigan area to support projects including (per Ford):
- Arbor Hospice, Ann Arbor
- Boy Scouts, Metamora
- Community Living Centers, Southfield
- Fish & Loaves, Taylor
- Forgotten Harvest, Oak Park
- Friends of the Rouge, Dearborn
- Gleaners Community Food Bank, Farmington Hills
- Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, Detroit
- Habitat for Humanity, Detroit
- Habitat for Humanity, Monroe
- HAVEN, Pontiac
- International Wildlife Refuge Alliance, Grosse Ile
- Liberty Hill Housing Corporation, Romulus
- Macomb County Habitat, Clinton Township
- Northville Community Foundation, Northville
- Salvation Army
- Starfish Family Services, Inkster
- St. Vincent de Paul, Detroit
Ford also teamed up with Ford Green IT to recycle used electronic equipment, keeping more than 75,000 pounds out of landfills.
