2015 Hyundai Genesis Coupe Headlight Engine News

The next-generation Hyundai Genesis Coupe has been spotted being tested, and exciting news has been revealed concerning its upgrades. Like The Korean Car Blog predicted earlier this year, it appears the next Genesis Coupe is in fact getting what it deserves.

After spotting a test mule, sources have confirmed a twin-turbocharged V6 engine is on the way for the 2017 or 2018 Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

It didn’t take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what was under the hood of this Genesis prototype, thanks to an obvious sticker on the windscreen that read; “test car – 3.3T 8AT AWD.” That translates to 3.3-liter turbocharged eight-speed automatic engine with all-wheel drive.

That sounds suspiciously like the compact turbocharged engine displayed by Hyundai at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. You know–the V6 that claimed to produce 365 horsepower and 379 lb-ft of torque. Except this one can apparently reach 480 horsepower and over 420 lb-ft of torque.

This twin-turbocharged V6 engine is purported to be part of the N performance variant of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, with other engine options being an improved 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.8 N/A from years past. This exciting news certainly sounds like the Genesis will finally break Hyundai into the luxury performance segment.
