Latin NCAP Awards 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with 5-star Adult Occupant Protection Rating

After evaluating the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for its safety performance, the 2018 Latin New Car Assessment Program has deemed it worthy of its highest score — a 5-star rating for Adult Occupant Protection.

The Eclipse Cross, which is sold in approximately 60 countries at the moment, features “MMC’s RISE reinforced impact safety evolution body and seven SRS airbags in a safety specification,” according to Mitsubishi Motors.

This engineering has also been noticed by the Australian and New Zealand ANCAP, ASEAN NCAP, and European NCAP, who have all awarded the Eclipse Cross with 5-star ratings.

“The Eclipse Cross is a coupe-like SUV that fuses a stylish form with dynamic SUV go-anywhere ability. It features a design that motivates the driver to experience the world, connectivity that inspires new fun adventures, and all-wheel control technology that delivers an enjoyable, reassuring feel that elevates the driving experience,” Mitsubishi Motors reports.

The 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is available at four trim levels: ES, LE, SE, and SEL. The ES trim is equipped with a 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo engine while the LE, SE, and SEL trims are equipped with a 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo engine with Super All-Wheel Control. Both engines are paired to an eight-speed Continuously Variable Transmission with Sport Mode and churn out 152 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The ES earns 26 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The LE, SE, and SEL earn 25 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The sleek SUV delivers standard Bluetooth® wireless connectivity and a 7-inch touch panel display audio system. Available infotainment technologies include Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatibility and SiriusXM® Satellite Radio with three-month trial subscription.
