Lexus Brings Two-Row LX Model to LA Auto Show

Lexus’ LA Auto Show presence seems to mainly consist of messing with the number of seating rows in its vehicles. First, it added a third row to its RX crossover to create the RX L, and now it is performing the opposite action on its LX crossover, taking the typically three-row model and taking out the backmost row to create more cargo space.2018 Lexus LX two-row

This seat reduction is actually the result of driver feedback, as some drivers have told Lexus that, although they love the LX, they often don’t use the third row of seating, and would probably prefer to have more room to carry cargo. These customers were those with smaller families or families which had left the house, or multiple-vehicle households. As a result, they are more likely to bring along more gear (or, perhaps, their dogs).

The space-augmented LX models come exclusively in a single trim level, the LX 570, with a single specification sheet, so buyers need only choose interior and exterior colors. This model, sans its third-row seat, now features 50.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the middle row, compared to 44.7 cubic feet in the three-row model. If even that isn’t enough cargo volume, though, the LX 570 comes with a standard roof rack.

Other than the seat omission, this new LX model is the same as the conventional version, and comes powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine, which makes 383 hp and 403 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds.
