2016 Lexus RX Interior

If you needed another reason to buy the 2016 Lexus RX, then you should know that it was named to the Wards “10 Best Interiors” list. The vehicle was first introduced 18 years ago, and has certainly gotten better and better with age. The Lexus RX’s interior joins five other luxury cars on the list, and according to Ward’s it’s the first time in the list’s history that it has been dominated by premium brands.

“It’s important that the Wards 10 Best Interiors list include mainstream, affordable vehicles,” says Drew Winter, director-content at WardsAuto. “But the average price of a new vehicle in the U.S. has risen past $33,000, which is forcing us to reconsider how we define mainstream, affordable vehicles.”

According to the publication, Ward’s editors had a really difficult February and March while they were testing out all of the 47 eligible interiors. To be considered for the award, an interior must be significantly redesigned or new for this model year. Several brands had a big refresh year and had several interiors entered in the contest, and Lexus had three in the race.

When deciding the big winners, the interiors are scored on seven major criteria: comfort, safety, aesthetics, materials, ergonomics, finish, and value. Since cars are so high tech now, the interiors are also rated on how easily their instructions are understood. You might laugh, but if you climb in a brand new car you’ll notice how many buttons and settings exist to get the interior just right for your body type. In October, Wards is actually panning a whole new competition for “10 Best User Experiences”. We’re sure Lexus will ace that as well.
