In recent months, falling gas prices have increased demand for larger vehicles, and as a result Toyota has seen record sales of its light truck models, ranging from the Tundra and Tacoma pickups to SUVs and crossovers like the Highlander and 4Runner. Last month was no exception, with Toyota’s light trucks and RAV4 crossover posting best-ever November sales and helping the Japanese automaker increase its sales numbers by a whopping 11.4% year-over-year on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis.

“The auto industry is on-track to exceed 2015 expectations,” explained Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager for the Toyota Division. “With the best Black Friday weekend in eight years, Toyota’s record sales of RAV4 and Light Trucks overall contributed to double-digit growth in November.”

In total, Toyota Division sold 160,177 units. Of these sales, 30,945 units were Camry sedans, and 12,741 were Highlander SUVs. Similarly, the 4Runner posted a 5.6% sales increase, while Toyota light trucks were up 5.5%. Additionally, the all-new Toyota Tacoma posted a sales total of 13,465 units in November—an increase of 3.4% over the previous November. The RAV4 was a major winner, with a 30% increase in sales year-over-year.

Toyota’s luxury Lexus division posted sales of 29,340 units, which was a 16.1% increase on a DSR basis. In total, Toyota’s three brands (the third being Scion) posted total sales of 189,517 units—a massive increase of 12.4% on a DSR basis.
