Lincoln July Sales

2015 Lincoln MKC: “Your savior has arrived!”

Lincoln got back on track in July by selling 7,863 units and posting a 13.6 percent year-over-year increase despite nearly every single model in their lineup being down. In fact, one single Lincoln vehicle made sales gains in July—the Navigator, which sold exactly one model more than it did in July 2013—and yet it was the best Lincoln U.S. July sales mark in six whole years. It just so happens that all of Lincoln’s positive traction came from the brand-new MKC, which in its second full month of sales moved a phenomenal 1,534 units.

More from Lincoln: Lincoln Makes Senior Leadership Changes

Here’s a helpful note for new Lincoln President and Vice President Kumar Galhotra and Ford/Lincoln CEO Mark Fields: start building around the MKC and watch all of that sweet, sweet money roll in.

The MKZ was Lincoln’s volume leader once more with 2,776 units sold. Despite being down a little over more than 1 percent in July, the MKZ is ahead 26.1 percent year-to-date with 21,752 cars sold.

The MKX was also down just slightly with 1,982 units, but it remains 10.5 percent ahead of its 2013 clip with 15,080 units sold.

The Navigator, as mentioned, improved upon last year’s July sales by one whole unit, but it remains down 3.9 percent for year year.

The MKS and MKT were both down on the month and are down on the year, which begs the question: should Fields and Galhotra consider expanding the lineup with newer, more exciting options sooner rather than later, and should the axe ultimately fall on the faltering MKS and MKT?
