Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Recall Issued for Rollaway Threat
When you’re designing a car, federal mandates require the brake to be engaged when you shift your car from “park” into drive mode. The Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has been recalled after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found a fault in the transmission range sensor, meaning the hybrid could change from “park” to “drive” without the brake of the car being depressed. This fault not only breaks these regulations, but also increases the chance of your car rolling away from you.
Because of this issue, 7,153 MKZ Hybrids built from April 26, 2012 to September 24 2013 have been recalled by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Owners of these models have been notified by Ford and have been told to bring their hybrids into their local Lincoln dealers to fix the issue. The dealer will update the Powertrain Control Module software to fix the issue.
