Lincoln’s May sales increase was predicated almost entirely on the all-new MKX, which nearly doubled the sales total from the year prior. Lincoln sold 2,794 units last month compared to 1,488 in May 2015, an 87.8% year-over-year improvement. Through five months, sales of the MKX are up 85.3% at 12,623, making it the current leading volume seller for the brand.

All other Lincoln vehicles saw year-over-year sales decreases in May. The MKZ was Lincoln’s best-seller in terms of volume at 3,250 units, down 1.4% from the 3,296 MKZs sold in May the year prior. The MKS was down 26.3% at a total of 452 sales. Through five months, Lincoln’s sales are down 6.6%, but the introduction of both the 2017 MKZ and all-new Continental by year’s end could help significantly to reverse these fortunes.

MKC sales totaled 2,162 units, down 5.5% year-over-year, but it remains 7.9% ahead of its 2015 pace through five months at a total of 10,122 units sold. Navigator sales were down 18.6% at 851 units, and it is selling slightly better overall than it was through five months last year. MKT sales were down 32.6%, but remain up 10% to-date.

Overall, Lincoln SUV sales were up 16% at a total of 6,105 vehicles, the best May figure for Lincoln utility vehicles since 2003.
