Lincoln Sales Climb Six Percent in August
Lincoln followed up its best July performance in a decade with its best August in seven years. Lincoln’s sales were up 6% in August with 8,636 units sold, bringing its to-date total to 65,284 vehicles sold (up 7.9% year-over-year).
In contrast to last month, where every model but the MKZ experienced year-over-year sales growth, only two Lincoln vehicles posted sales gains in August—the MKC and Navigator. Sales of the MKC were up 37% with 2,411 units sold, bringing its eight-month total to 16,198 sales. The Navigator was up huge, increasing sales 79.3% year-over-year with 1,054 units.
Despite backslides from the MKX (1,763 units, down 14%) and MKT (285 units, down 9%), Lincoln’s utility sales were up 16.8% thanks to the MKC and Navigator’s big numbers. Overall, Lincoln’s utility sales are up 32.4% for much of the same reason. The Navigator is up 57.5% in eight months with 7,678 units sold.
The same could not be said for Lincoln’s car sales, which were down 8.8% on the whole. The MKZ led all models volume-wise with 2,571 units sold (down 9.5%), and the MKS was down 5.6% with 552 units sold. Overall, Lincoln’s care sales are down 16.4%, which is not terribly surprising giving consumer trends pointing away from sedans in favor of crossovers and trucks.
