Lincoln Motor Company vehicle sales were down 1.8% in October with a total of 8,909 units sold. The year-over-year decline from sales totaling 9,069 vehicles in October 2016 was brought about by a 20.4% decrease in car sales, which was itself largely due to the discontinuation of the MKS sedan; SUV sales, on the other hand, were up 13.1%.

Lincoln’s Most Popular Vehicles: What features help keep your family safe in the all-new Lincoln MKX?

Lincoln’s three key SUV products—the MKX, MKC, and Navigator—all posted increases for the month. MKX sales rose 17.8% to 2,684 vehicles, setting a new all-time record for the month of October. Lincoln MKC sales were up 10.3% with deliveries totaling 2,114 vehicles, and Navigator sales rose 9.7% at 656 vehicles delivered. MKT sales were flat at 248 vehicles.

Lincoln car sales were down across the board, but the biggest difference was the absence of any sales for the discontinued Lincoln MKS compared to sales totaling 325 units in October 2016. Lincoln Continental sales were down 18.5% with 996 examples delivered in October, and sales of the MKZ fell 10.9% with a total of 2,211 vehicles.

Despite the down sales month, Lincoln remains apace to top last year’s full-year sales total. Through October, Lincoln’s sales total 91,631 vehicles in the United States, up 2.4% from its pace through the first 10 months of 2016. Lincoln car sales are up 3.7% on the back of the Continental’s 9,873 vehicles delivered. SUV sales are up 1.6%, led by an 8.7% increase from the MKC (22,507 vehicles) and 1.8% increase from the MKX (25,436 vehicles).
