Lincoln Sales Total 9,691 Vehicles in April as Continental, MKZ Drive Retail Car Growth

Lincoln’s US sales totaled 9,691 vehicles in April, down 0.9% year-over-year from sales of 9,776 units the year prior. Retail sales were up 3%, however, driven by a 43% year-over-year sales increase for retail passenger cars made possible by big gains from the MKZ and the continued success of the new Continental.

Overall sales of the all-new MKZ were up 24.8% with 2,658 units delivered. The strong April performance bolstered the MKZ’s year-to-date sales, raising them to 9,301 units and putting the sedan 7.1% ahead of its pace through April 2016.

The Continental posted another strong performance with sales totaling 1,003 units delivered. Through the first four months of the year, Continental sales total 4,212 units. Sales of the MKS were down 96.8% with 21 units delivered, bringing its year-to-date total to 80 units.

Total car sales were up 31.9% in April at 3,682 vehicles delivered, and sales are up 20.7% through April with a total of 13,593 vehicles delivered.

Lincoln SUV sales were down across the board, totaling 6,009 units overall—a 14% year-over-year decline. The Lincoln MKC led the brand in terms of volume with 2,726 units delivered, but its sales were down 3.4% from 2,822 units sold in April 2016. MKX sales were down 11.1% at 2,339 units delivered, MKT sales declined 49.2% at 240 units, and Navigator sales fell 33.6% at 704 units.

Through four months, Lincoln’s SUV sales are down 1%; sales of the MKC are up 8.5% with a total of 8,637 units delivered, and sales of the MKX are up 5.2% with 10,345 units delivered.

Through the first third of 2017, Lincoln’s sales are up 6% at 36,774 vehicles sold.
