Lincoln Motor Company sales increased 4.9% in May with a total of 10,288 vehicles delivered in the United States. Retail sales increased 9.7% for the month, giving Lincoln its 16th consecutive month of year-over-year retail sales gains.

A great deal of Lincoln’s big boost can be attributed to strong sales of the new Continental and an uptick in deliveries of the MKC crossover. Lincoln sold 1,061 Continental sedans in May, more than off-setting the 13.8% year-over-year decline in sales for the MKZ and 97.3% year-over-year drop-off for the MKS. Through the sheer strength of the Continental, total Lincoln car sales were up 4.6% year-over-year at 3,874 units delivered. Despite the decline, MKZ  sales totaled 2,801 units, leading the brand from a volume perspective.

Through May, Lincoln sales in the United States were up 5.8% at 47,062 units delivered. Car sales were up 16.7%, led by a total of 5,273 deliveries for the Continental and a 1.4% increase for the MKZ at 12,102 units delivered. SUV sales were up just 0.2% at 29,595 units, led by sales totaling 13,027 units for the MKX (up 3.2%) and 11,161 units for the MKC (up 10.3%).
